The Weirdest Inanimate Objects We’ve Ever Been Asked To Play*

Imagine this: you get up one weekday morning, complete your usual routine and head to work. When at work, after your first obligatory coffee of course, you’re informed “you’ll be playing the part of Chlamydia today.”

Not your typical job, right? We’ve blogged before that the life of a voiceover can be a weird one, what with the deep-rooted fear of germs, the worrying amount of time you spend on your own and the terrible headphone hair.

Last week, one of our voiceovers was asked if they had “ever played the part of a skip before.” Of course, being an experienced voiceover, she had – and didn’t even bat an eyelid when asked the slightly random question. Because in voiceover world, there is no such thing as a ‘random question’!

It got us thinking, what other weird inanimate objects have our voiceovers been asked to play in the past? Here’s our list (which is by no means exhaustive!):

  • A virus
  • A rusting car
  • Athlete’s foot
  • Chlamydia
  • A baked bean
  • A dirty plate
  • A broken dishwasher

Just imagine getting into work and being asked to channel the energy of a baked bean!

* Thankfully, our voiceovers are at the top of their game and client requests rarely knock them off guard, so we’ve said yes to all the weird and wonderful objects our clients have asked us to be!

If you need a voice for a future project, listen to some samples to help you decide which one best suits your requirements. Then get in touch to discuss your needs further, we’d love to hear from you.
